Philippi Public Library Hosts The Creative Cup

Battlers Knob is echoing with laughter this weekend as the much-anticipated Comedy Festival takes over Philippi from Thursday, June 26 through Saturday, June 28! The 23rd biennial West Virginia Juried Exhibition opened at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston, along with an awards ceremony, on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. Total of 66 West Virginia artists were selected for the exhibit, which will feature 89 pieces, including painting, drawing, mixed media, craft, photography, digital art, sculpture and print. Total of 30 counties are represented in the show.

The Philippi and Junior Lions Clubs hosted a joint District Governor's night on October 21 at the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington. Both clubs welcomed new members. Beth Longo (sponsor Millard Minor) joined the Philippi Club, and Keeah Ware (sponsor Nancy Ware) joined the Junior Club. Both members were inducted by District Governor Kermit Hawley.

Coach Patty Delauder and her Strutters group traveled to Ripley High School on Saturday, November 4, 2023 to compete in the 2024 West Virginia NBTA State Championships. The group participated in both twirling and dance events with other teams throughout West Virginia competing in both individual and group events.
