County residents were woken up around 3 a.m. on Friday morning as cell phone warning went out for possible tornado, instructing people to seek shelter. Strong winds came through the county, but there was no reports of significant damage
City of Elkins police officer (formerly police officer in Barbour County with both City of Philippi and Sheriff's Department) was arrested last week on charges of domestic battery. He was since fired with cause by Elkins Police Department and cannot serve anymore as a police officer anywhere in the state.

Buckwheat and pancake breakfast at Feed My Sheep School from 8 a.m. to Noon.
Craft Show at Battlers Knob from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Elimination Dance at Belington Fire Department - 6 p.m. to midnight.
Aaron Harris Auction Services are having an estate auction at Battlers Knob at 6 p.m. Go towards football field and follow the signs.
Crafters and Vendors are needed for Independence Day celebration this summer. The event is organized by Barbour County CEOS, and it will take place on Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Email Barbourceos@gmail.com for more information.
Tygarts Valley Conservation District local workgroup meeting will take place this coming Tuesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at Belington Fire Hall.
