Two People Charged With Grand Larceny (Thursday, February 27, 2025)


  • Two people were charged with Grand Larceny and Conspiracy to Commit Felony earlier this week after the report was made to Barbour County Sheriff's Department about stolen items from the property rented by Chestnut Ridge PSD near Rt 38 and Rt 92 intersection. The items in question were fire hydrant and about 40 water meter lids that were later sold to Sugar Creek Salvage. Estimated value of stolen items is about $3500. Kathy Barkley and her son, Travis Barkley were both charged and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.


  • Some rain is expected throughout the next 10 days as temperatures will vary from upper 20s to low 60s. Whether March will be ushered like lion or like lamb is yet to be seen!


  • Barbour County Republican Party will host Live Online Legislative Updates with our local representative. The first one will be this Sunday at 8 p.m. with Delegate Chris Phillips.   • Lady Colts basketball team is starting their road toward the state tournament this Friday at 7 p.m., when they will be hosting Liberty (Harrison) in the first round of Class AA Region II!


  • Transfer Station is open every first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to Noon. During the rest of the month, they are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon.


  • On Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be hot dog and bake sale, as well as crafts for sale and 50/50 drawing at Philippi Shop N Save to support a local resident who is battling cancer.


  • Rox Band will be at E3 Music and Art Venue this Saturday from 9 pm. to midnight.
