Spring Comes To County


  • Even though it is still technically winter, spring is slowly coming to the county, giving a much needed break after harsh January and February, and allowing for more events to take place. For the next 10 days, we will see temperatures in the upper 50s, with sporadic rain showers.


  • Battlers Knob has announced that permanent training center for WV Rural Water Association will now be on its campus, and people from all over the state will be attending classes there.


  • Barbour County Music Hall of Fame will introduce its inaugural class on April 11. More information about this event will be forthcoming!


  • Belington Board of Parks has announced dates for their open gym - basketball on March 7, 9, and 23; walking on March 7, 9, 20, and 23, and pickleball on March 20. All open gyms will be from 6-8 p.m.


  • This week, both Belington and Philippi Heart and Hand Stores will offer 50% off on all of the store items, and select items at the warehouse.


  • This Saturday, March 8, 17 North Event Center will celebrate its second anniversary from 7-10 p.m. and will feature performances by Full Cirkle and Electric Blue!


  • Also on Saturday, Philippi Public Library will have STREAM Leprechaun Day, with rainbow paintings, leprechaun snacks, and St. Patrick's Day videos from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. On March 11, from 4:30-6 p.m., the library will hose their Teen and Tweens event, and the craft will be bath fizzy DIY.


  • Barbour County Youth Baseball still needs four more coaches. If you are interested contact their Facebook page.


  • E3 Music and Art Venue will have The Dougger Dance on March 8, and Whey Jennings on March 14!


  • Kent McVicker will play his music on March 15 from 5-7 p.m. at BoTai Boba.


  • Save the date: April 25, 6:30 p.m. at Battlers Knob - comedian and ventriloquist Ryan & Friends!
