Schools On Non-Traditional Day Thursday (January 23, 2025)

  • It feels like kids have been on very extended winter vacation this year. However, Thursday, they will have non-traditional instruction day. What that means is that teachers and staff will be at the schools and available to answer any questions children have. In a meantime, students will be working from home on their snow packets.


  • Congrats are in order for Spelling Bee Winners - Zander Godden (BMS), Jaelyn Dougherty (PMS), and Macey Cambell (BMS) placed first through third. Alternates are Ella Whitlock (PMS) and Colin Sandy (BMS).


  • On Monday, January 29, Tracey Vincent from the Autism Training at Marshall University will be at PBHS from 4-6 p.m. The topic of the presentation is how to help loved ones and those in the community who are autistic. Event is free and open to public.


  • Free beginning beekeeping classes are back! Barbour County Beekeepers and Barbour County WVU Extension will host classes on five consecutive Tuesdays, starting on February 25 at Barbour Church of Christ, located at 10429 Barbour County Highway in Belington.   • Do not forget square dancing tonight at 17 North Event Center from 6-8 p.m.! Admission is donation to Animal Friends of Barbour County. Shake the winter blues by coming out to dance!


  • On Saturday, Belington Bakery will celebrate their first year anniversary (rescheduled from earlier in the year) with a night of poetry, music, and storytelling, from 6-8 p.m. Pizza and soup buffet is available for purchase.


  • Also on Saturday, Margarita's will feature music by Ziggy Hall!


  • Looking for Valentine's Day dinner? Both Adaland and Belington Bakery are offering special meals - Adaland on February 15, and Belington Bakery on February 14 for couples, with another dinner on February 15 for more of a friends and family type of Valentine's Day celebration. Special event and meal is also planned at Arden Area Community Center on February 15.
