School Bus In Accident (Thursday, January 30, 2025)

One of the school buses was involved in single vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon in the area of Porterfield Rd and Briar Patch Rd. The bus slid on ice and hit a tree. 911 Center received a call from the Board of Education around 4 p.m., sending emergency crews to the site. Nine children were on the bus at the time, but no apparent injuries were reported.
Areas of Nestorville and Kasson experienced power outage on Wednesday afternoon. Outage occurred between 4 and 5 p.m. and lasted till almost 11 p.m. for some residents.
Barbour County Family Support Center will be hosting Earned Income Tax Credit on Friday, January 31, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free services provided will be: tax assistance, banking, credit reports, housing counseling, unclaimed properties, financial literacy, and more. City of Philippi transfer station will be open this Saturday, February 1, from 8 a.m. to Noon. Transfer station is open during weekdays, and the first Saturday of every month.
Belington Public Library will host Children's Valentine's Day party on February 12, at 5 p.m. The event will have children's story hour, snacks, and Valentine's Day themed crafts.
