Philippi Middle School Shines In Volleyball Tournament, Secures 3rd Place Finish




Philippi Middle School's volleyball team showcased their skills and sportsmanship in a thrilling volleyball tournament held on October 21, 2023, at Eastern Greenbrier. The event, named the "Middle School Dig Pink Tournament," featured an exciting array of talented teams. Philippi Middle School's journey through the tournament was nothing short of remarkable, earning them a respectable 3rd place finish.


The tournament's initial pool play witnessed Philippi Middle School's team engage in six intense matches. Their performance was commendable, resulting in a 3-3 record during this stage. Here's a breakdown of their pool play games and scores: Philippi vs. Baileysville: 17-25; 25-22; Philippi vs. Beckley-Stratton: 26-24; 25-22; and Philippi vs. Eastern Greenbrier: 13-25; 13-25.


With a balanced win-loss record, they advanced to the elimination matches, where they truly demonstrated their resilience and determination. In the elimination matches, Philippi Middle School faced two challenging opponents, showcasing their unwavering spirit and determination. Their match scores for this stage of the tournament were as follows: Philippi vs. Indy: 26-28; 25-19; 25-18; and Philippi vs. Park: 6-25; 7-25.


Even though they faced tough competition, Philippi Middle School managed to secure third place in the tournament, a significant accomplishment that highlighted their dedication and skill on the court.


The tournament also featured other teams, each contributing to the electrifying atmosphere and competitive spirit of the event. The participating teams included: Eastern Greenbrier Middle School (EGMS), Philippi Middle School, Beckley-Stratton, Baileysville, Park, Independence Middle School (Indy), Eastern Greenbrier Middle School B Team (EGMS B), and Pineville.
