On the final night of 2023, the Philippi Police Department encountered a disturbing situation that led to the arrest of Orlandis Fredrick Funderburke, 37, of Philippi. The incident unfolded as Funderburke made threatening calls Barbour County 911 Center, stating that he was going to kill both Philippi Police Department and Barbour County 911 Center employees unless “he gets the child back,” according to the criminal complaint.
