Philippi Lions Recognize Jud Bracey

The Philippi Lions Club would like to recognize Jud Bracey. Jud joined the club in 2016 and was sponsored by Millard Minor. He is currently serving as Third Vice President, and has held several positions in the Club, as well as serving on the Board of Directors. He also serves on the Scholarship Committee. Jud has received the Leonard Jarrett Award.

Jud's favorite projects are the vision screening of school children and the scholarships for high school seniors. He feels that helping with the eye testing is particularly rewarding and heart-warming. He recalls, at a recent vision screening, he was recording the names of the children when a five-year-old Kindergarten student didn't like his penmanship as he wrote down his name. "That's not the way you make a 'G'!" he said with disgust. Jud and the teacher tried to explain to him that sometimes people can form letters differently. He was unimpressed! Jud says, "Kids are great! And serving them is an important thing that our club does."

Jud also directs the Blue and Gray Choir and the Christmas Choir.
