Students at Philippi Elementary participated in a Summer Reading program. Total of 12 students read a total number of 215 books throughout the summer. Those students who read a minimum of nine books were eligible to participate in an ice cream social that was sponsored by Dairy King of Philippi. The top readers were Aubrianna Tacy (44 books), Eden Miller (32 books), Kirklyn Curry (27 books), Rorabella Maxson (19 books), and Leann Zirkle (17 books). Other participants who read between nine and 15 books are Raelynn Criss, Elliott Metz, Logan Zirkle, Olivia Roy, Aria Roy, Theodore Metz, and Troy MacDonald. Reading is one of the most proven ways to prevent progress remission over the summer break. Philippi Elementary is beyond proud of these students and we hope to have an even larger turn out next year!
