PES Participates In Pumpkin Drop

On the day of Halloween, students at Philippi Elementary School participated in their second annual pumpkin drop competition. Pumpkins were generously donated by Delta Cooling Towers. With help from the City of Philippi employees, pumpkin boxes created by each classroom were dropped from high in the air to plummet to the concrete below.

Unlike last year, this competition had two surviving pumpkins.

Mrs. Carpenter’s Pre-K classroom and Mrs. Allen’s first grade classroom designed their boxes so well that their pumpkins remained intact. The school expressed their appreciation for the help from the City of Philippi and is looking forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come.
