At last Monday evening's Small Business Solutions meeting, New Vision Renewable Energy announced the launch of their groundbreaking project, New Vision Village. This unique community aims to provide housing and work opportunities for disconnected young adults and at-risk youth who have aged out of foster care.
Statistics reveal that West Virginia has the highest percentage of population of children placed in foster care nationwide. Unfortunately, upon turning 18 years old, a staggering 38 percent of these individuals become homeless, with 58 percent of the males finding themselves in trouble with the law within the first 18 months. New Vision recognized this pressing issue and developed New Vision Village as a solution.

New Vision Village will not only offer safe and affordable housing but will also empower its residents by providing them with essential life skills necessary for a successful transition into adulthood. The village's innovative concept includes pairing young men aging out of foster care with experienced mentors from various backgrounds such as retired school teachers, veterans, widows, or single individuals who possess valuable life experience.
"Everyone would live in the village," shared Ruston Seaman, President/CEO of New Vision. "The goal is to create an environment where these young men can form meaningful connections with neighbors who will become friends and family."
To ensure a thriving community that supports transitioning youth entering the world of work and responsibility, New Vision Village plans to operate an onsite tiny house factory where residents can gain employment while contributing to future phases of development within the village.
"We envision turning this village into a model community," Seaman added enthusiastically. "By fostering healthy multi-generational relationships between mentors and youth residents through our supportive environment, we aspire to equip these young men with necessary skills that promote their personal growth."
New Vision President/CEO Ruston Seaman has announced highly anticipated milestones for this project, with the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for March 22, and a ribbon-cutting event planned for Earth Day, April 22.

Seaman invites community members, local leaders, and all those interested in supporting the well-being of our youth to attend these significant events. Through collaboration and commitment, New Vision Village endeavors to make a tangible difference in the lives of foster youth who deserve a chance at a brighter future.
