Last week, New Vision, in partnership with Coalfield Development and LeeMax Safety Solutions, trained their entire staff on multiple certifications. The WRAPS employees (Workforce Readiness and Professional Success) of New Vision are workers who simultaneously work for New Vision while preparing for their future. Part of that preparation is getting certifications that look good on resumes, especially in construction and mining fields. LeeMax Safety Solutions, a group specializing in trainings like this, sent trainer Sherri Jones to educate and train the WRAPS employees on four separate certifications from the August 12 through August 16. The certifications covered were the OSHA HAZWOPER, OSHA 10, Lead Asbestos and Mold, and finally First Aid/CPR. These certifications center on hazardous materials and disposal, common workplace hazards, employee’s rights, employers’ responsibilities, and more. The New Vision employees who received all four certifications were Bradley Howdershelt, Mathew Cox, Trevor Freeman, Khia Hanifan, and Wilford “Trey” Goff.

On Wednesday, Sherri Jones led the New Vision team in their First Aid/CPR certification, along with some guests. Several teens freshly graduated from New Vison’s teen summer work program, Prevention Works, joined in to grab the only certification available to those under 18 and add to their resumes. Youth Director Sam Christie joined four of his students to renew his own first aid certification. New Vision continues its mission to serve the community of Barbour County.
