A plea and sentencing hearing was held in the Circuit Court of Barbour County on August 30, 2024 before the Honorable Shawn D. Nines. Andrew Lynn Phillips, Prosecuting Attorney, and Miriah Mills, Special Prosecuting Attorney, appeared on behalf of the State. The defendant, Michael Jones II, appeared in person and by his counsel, Dean Morgan.

The defendant previously had a presentence investigation in case number 22-F-67, where he pled guilty to Failure to Register or Provide Notice of Change of Sex Offender Registry Information – First Offense.

The defendant was sentenced to a term of not less than one nor more than five years in the West Virginia Penitentiary for Failure to Register or Provide Notice of Change of Sex Offender Registry Information – First Offense, and a term of not less than 10 nor more than 25 years in the West Virginia Penitentiary for the offense of Failure to Register or Provide Notice of Change of Sex Offender Registry Information – Second Offense.
