Medallion Restaurant Supports PBHS Girls' Soccer Team's State Tournament Journey

The community rallied together to support the Philip Barbour High School (PBHS) girls' soccer team as they embarked on their fourth consecutive journey to the state tournament. After the team's triumphant victory in the regionals, they faced the daunting challenge of financing their trip to Beckley. In response to the team's call for donations, the Medallion Restaurant stepped up, offering to donate a portion of their profits from Saturday, October 28.

The PBHS girls' soccer team's consistent success in reaching the state tournament is a source of pride for the entire community. However, the financial burden associated with traveling and staying in Beckley posed a significant challenge for the team and their families. To alleviate this burden, the team sought assistance from local businesses and the generous members of the community.

Kevin Lyons, the owner of the Medallion Restaurant, recognized the team's dedication and accomplishments and decided to contribute to their cause. On October 28, the restaurant dedicated a portion of its daily profits to support the girls' soccer team. The gesture garnered widespread attention and appreciation from the local community.

In addition to Medallion's contribution, the community at large displayed its unwavering support for the PBHS girls' soccer team. Several families generously donated substantial amounts, further boosting the team's fundraising efforts. Together, these combined contributions raised just over $800, which significantly alleviated the financial strain of the trip.

The PBHS girls' soccer team certainly lived up to the community's high expectations during the state tournament. They exhibited remarkable sportsmanship and determination on the field, ultimately finishing in second place in the state. This achievement not only reaffirmed their status as one of the state's elite soccer teams but also served as a testament to the unity and support of the Barbour County community.
