Local Cadet Receives Prestigious Award

On Saturday, October 5th, Cadet Master Sergeant Hayden Dalton traveled to Morgantown to attend the 83rd Annual West Virginia Civil Air Patrol Conference and Banquet.

During the conference, held at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place, Cadet Dalton along with his fellow cadet, Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Sarah Karnes, were two of six cadets in the state of West Virginia to be inducted into the WV Wing Honor Society for the 2024 year. Their home squadron is the Elkins Composite Squadron, WV-033 located at the Elkins Randolph Airport in Elkins.

To be eligible for the WV Wing Honor Society, cadets must complete the following requirements: must complete three achievements in a period no greater than 180 days; must complete all tests in the application period with a score of no less than a 92 percent; and must receive endorsement of the respective squadron commander.

Cadet Dalton achieved his current rank as Cadet Master Sergeant in September. He also attended summer Encampment, where he graduated as a member of the Honor Flight (Echo). His ultimate goal is to attend the Air Force Academy and become a pilot in the Air Force. Dalton recently attended Academy Days in Morgantown, hosted by the office of Shelley Moore Capito to talk with representatives from the Air Force Academy and have a practice interview.
