Library Receives Donation

Clint Newman, a Philippi City Councilman and owner of Bargan Barn, has once again spearheaded a successful fundraising campaign to support the Philippi City Library. Over the course of the past two years, Newman's efforts have resulted in a total donation exceeding $4600 from various local businesses, elected officials, and generous individuals.

Last year, Newman initiated a 10-day fundraising blitz that saw an outpouring of support from the community, resulting in donations totaling $1400. Undeterred by the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, Newman doubled down on his commitment to the library's cause this year, rallying even more support from businesses and individuals alike.

The 2024 fundraising campaign saw an impressive increase in contributions, with a grand total of $3205 collected.

Among the generous donors are Bargan Barn, Molly’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream, Ragin Cajun Hauling, Hard Core Auto, KJ rentals, Twisted Metal Body Work, Sam Wright, George Simmons, Hank’s Discount Pawn Shop, Cold Cuts Barber Shop, Grumpyz Pizza, Riccio’s Enterprises, Rocky River Tire, Robert Richardson, City Mobile Park Home, Thomas Hoxie, Dave’s Plumbing and Heating, Mullens & Mullens, TTR Rentals, Thorne’s Towing Service, Lil’ Moe’s, Dave Anglin, Kittle Family Funeral Home, Maple Terrace Apartments, Barbour County Sheriff's Deputy Association, Freedom Bank, BC Bank, Peoples Bank, Jaime Carpenter, Heart and Hand, Chip Lemasters, Shear Perfection Hair by Sabrina, Zoecon Construction, and Mountaineer Septic.

Reflecting on the success of the fundraising efforts, Newman expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response from the community. "The Philippi City Library plays a vital role in our community, providing resources and opportunities for people of all ages. I am humbled by the generosity of everyone who has contributed to this cause," he remarked.

The funds raised will enable the library to continue offering essential services and programs to residents of Philippi and the surrounding areas.
