In Saturday update, Core Natural Resources and its subsidiary, Wolf Run Mining, LLC, issued the statement where they confirmed termination of 165 employees - a decision they say is a result of "the ongoing downturn in metallurgical coal markets globally causing economic challenges."
For our community, after closing of Alderson Broaddus University, and subsequent downsizing of the mines, as well as closures of several businesses in the last 18 months, this has resulted in the loss of close to 600 jobs.
Philippi Main Street has announced May 2 as the day of the next Art Stroll.
