Drennen Recipient Of The Community Award

Philippi City Manager Jeremy Drennen has been awarded the prestigious Tom Oxley Heart of the Community Award at the West Virginia Municipal League's Annual Summer Conference. The accolade, presented by The Thrasher Group, Inc., recognizes a City Manager who exemplifies the spirit and dedication of Tom Oxley, a revered public servant and former City Manager of Oak Hill. Along with the recognition, Thrasher Engineering will donate $2,500 to a charity selected by Drennen.

This year marks the second presentation of the award, established to honor Tom Oxley’s legacy following his passing in 2023. Oxley, a Yale graduate known for his intelligence, kindness, and philanthropic nature, made significant contributions to public service and the West Virginia Municipal League. His unwavering commitment to his community and his philanthropic efforts left an enduring mark on local governance.

Jeremy Drennen was selected from over 230 cities, towns, and villages within the West Virginia Municipal League, reflecting his embodiment of the values Tom Oxley represented. Drennen's dedication to his community and his efforts to enhance Philippi align closely with the award’s mission to celebrate those who show a profound love for their city and a commitment to public service.

The award ceremony took place before a packed audience at the Marshall Health Arena in Huntington, WV, where Drennen was recognized for his exceptional service and impact.
