David Shriver Joins German Division A League Rasta Vechta II

By Marija Ilic

Former Philip Barbour High School and Alderson Broaddus University standout, David Shriver, has taken his basketball prowess across the Atlantic to the German Division A league, where he now dons the orange jersey of Rasta Vechta II, a team in northern Germany town Vechta.

Shriver's journey to Europe follows a remarkable college career that spanned Hartford University and Virginia Commonwealth University. His time with the Rams was particularly memorable, winning both season and conference championships and playing a pivotal role in guiding the team to March Madness.

Following his college triumphs, Shriver's skills caught the attention of the basketball world, leading him to the NBA Summer League with the New York Knicks. He was subsequently drafted by the Austin Spurs in the first round of the NBA G-League draft, marking a significant step in his professional career.

After an initial stint in Texas with the Spurs, Shriver made the bold move to take his talents overseas, joining Rasta Vechta II in late January. Despite a quick turnaround, he wasted no time making an impact, stepping onto the court just 48 hours after his arrival.

In the five games he's played so far, Shriver has showcased his scoring ability, averaging nine points and contributing 3.6 rebounds per game in 20 minutes per game. What's truly catching the eye is his well-known sharpshooting from beyond the arc, boasting an outstanding 45.8 percent three-point shooting accuracy, a statistic that he leads the team in.

Shriver's court efficiency hasn't gone unnoticed, as he has quickly climbed the ranks to become the fourth most valuable player on the team. With at least nine more games left in the season, the basketball fans in Vechta are eagerly anticipating more stellar performances from the American import.
