In a momentous day for young basketball talent, David Shriver, a standout player with an impressive journey in the world of hoops, was selected 7th overall in the first round of the NBA G-League draft by the Austin Spurs, an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.

Shriver's basketball journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. The West Virginia native made a name for himself at Philip Barbour High School, where he led the team to two consecutive state tournaments during his high school career. His remarkable skills and determination quickly caught the attention of college scouts.

Shriver continued to impress during his college career, initially playing three years at Alderson Broaddus University, where he made a significant mark by finishing as the second all-time leading three-point scorer in school history. He then transferred to Division I Hartford University for his senior year, where he continued to develop his game and gain valuable experience.

Due to the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, NCAA athletes were granted an extra year of eligibility, a lifeline Shriver seized. He enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and played a pivotal role in helping lead the team to regular season and tournament conference titles, securing a trip to the NCAA March Madness tournament.

VCU's season had a rocky start, but it was a span of four games in January where Shriver's sharpshooting skills took center stage. His exceptional performances directly contributed to victories against top teams in the conference and, in turn, turned the team's season around.

Shriver's talents were not confined to the college court. In the past summer, he joined the New York Knicks in Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League, showcasing his skills on a bigger stage. He also participated in the nationwide TBT tournament, representing VCU Ram Nation and demonstrating his prowess on the court.

Shriver's hard work throughout the summer paid off, as he caught the attention of multiple NBA G-League teams. Eventually, he landed in Austin, Texas, where he will wear the Austin Spurs uniform with pride.

Fans eager to see Shriver in action can find the Austin Spurs' game schedule on their official website. Additionally, the games will be televised on NBATV, allowing viewers from around the nation to witness the rise of this promising basketball talent.

With his impressive journey from a small West Virginia high school to the G-League, David Shriver is ready to make his mark in professional basketball, and fans are undoubtedly excited to see him on the court in the upcoming season.
