County Still Dealing With Flood Issues (February 2, 2025)

Barbour County OEM has issued official update on Saturday evening, warning residents that even though river level is receding (faster in Philippi than in Belington), there are still some side roads and low lying areas that continue to have water pooling on the surface. Emergency crews were out several times on Saturday helping with the vehicles that got stuck in the water.
Champs Central brought several hundred people for their cheer showcase at Battlers Knob Saturday. Rex Pyles Arena is slated to host middle school wrestling tournament next weekend, and an indoor soccer tournament in a month as well, bringing people from all over the state to our county.

Girl Scout Troop 10001 announced Valentine's Day dance on February 15 from 6-9 p.m. at the City Hall in Belington for kids 9 age and up! They will have musical chair contest and a dance off. Cost is $4 for single and $6 for couple ticket. Dance offs will be $1, and there will prize categories.
Philippi Lions Club is resuming their monthly meetings this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Crim UMC. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to come.
Barbour County Commission meeting is Monday at 5 p.m. and City of Philippi Council meeting is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Meetings are open to public.
