County School Child Nutrition Director Visits The Capitol



Earlier this week in DC, School Nutrition Association (SNA) members from West Virginia including SNA president and Barbour County Schools Child Nutrition Director, Chris Derico, met with Senator Joe Manchin and Jennifer Garner (Save The Children) to advocate for school meal programs and share the vital role school meals play in students' well-being and academic success during the School Nutrition Association's annual Legislative Action Conference (LAC)

Derico joined 850 school nutrition professionals from around the US in calling on Congress to increase funding, preserve successful current nutrition standards and provide every student equal access to healthy school meals, as detailed in this recent report and SNA’s 2024 Position Paper.


He met with US Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, and with Senator Joe Manchin.
