County Republican Committee Opens Headquarters In Philippi

The Barbour County Republican Party opened its Philippi Headquarters on Friday, October 4, at its location at the end of the Philippi bypass with a free hot dog dinner for the public that included an opportunity to meet the candidates. The event was well attended by approximately 75 people throughout the evening from Barbour and five neighboring counties. Donations of pet food were taken up to send to the flood relief efforts in North Carolina, and Republican dog toys were provided to all attendees with pet dogs.


Speakers included Patrick Morrisey, current WV Attorney General and candidate for WV Governor; Mac Warner, current WV Secretary of State, Kent Leonhardt, current WV Commissioner of Agriculture who is running for re-election; Kris Warner, candidate for WV Secretary of State; Delegate Chris Phillips, who is running for re-election; Sheriff Brett Carpenter, running for re-election; Assessor and current Committee Member Derick Spencer, running for re-election; Prosecutor Drew Phillips, running for re-election; and Bob Richardson, running for County Commission.


Special guests in attendance included County Commissioner Dave Strait, Judge Shawn Nines, Judge Thomas Hoxie, Delegate Amy Summers of Taylor County, Delegate Debbie Warner of Monongalia County, and former Delegate Guy Ward of Marion County.


The grill was manned by Delegate Chris Phillips and the event was emceed by Republican Party Chair, Lisa Weese, assisted by Committee Members Bill Guthrie, Renee Howdershelt, and Pennie Roueche. Additional Committee Member Sheila Tenney was also in attendance. Various candidate yard signs were made available to the public, and Trump merchandise was available for purchase.


The Philippi Republican Headquarters will be open through Election Day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings 5-8 p.m. and on Saturdays 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Candidate yard signs and Trump merchandise is still available for the public during these hours.
