Davis Medical Center Volunteers enjoy many fun activities during National Volunteer Week. Volunteers play an important role in supporting patients, employees and the community.
Davis Medical Center is celebrating its volunteers this week as part of National Volunteer Week. From special recognition ceremonies and appreciation luncheons to volunteer spotlights and social media features, Davis Medical Center is taking this week to spotlight the important role volunteers play in supporting patients, employees, and the community.
“It’s an opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks for all that they do,” said DMC Director of Volunteer Services Valerie Bright.
Highlights of the 2023 DMC Volunteer class include: 60 volunteers contributing 7,153 service hours; providing pathfinding and wheelchair transports for more than 13,000 patients; assisting with over 600 special projects, and visited with 1,700 inpatients; donating 20 shifts cuddling newborns in the Family Birthing Center; and volunteer chaplains offering spiritual support to more than 1,200 patients and families.
National Volunteer Week, observed annually in April, is a time to honor and thank volunteers for their unwavering dedication, generosity, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. At Davis Medical Center, volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the patient experience, supporting hospital operations, and fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among staff, patients, and visitors.
"Our volunteers bring joy, comfort, and companionship to our patients and families during their time of need," said Valerie Bright. "Their kindness, compassion, and generosity make a positive impact on the lives of everyone they encounter."
