  • The Philippi Lions Club is asking for your help! If you have received any medical equipment that you are no longer using, they ask that you get in touch with one of their members so that they can make arrangements to pick it up or meet at their storage building. If you're still using it, please feel free to keep it! They have had so many people in need of equipment lately, especially wheelchairs and rollators, that they can't keep any in stock. They purchased several new ones this year and they go out as quickly as they get them in.

Medical equipment program began in 1966 when the family of a deceased Lion donated his specialty purchased home hospital bed. The Philippi Lions Ambulatory Equipment Committee was started, and its purpose was to find, obtain, and loan out medical equipment. The project is growing continually. They have hundreds of items loaned out at any given time.

You can call Tina at 304-677-4136, Sabrina at 304-613-8663, Ira at 304-457-2070, Jud at 304-457-1359, Doug at 304-457-1247, or contact any member of the Philippi Lions Club. You can also send a message at our Facebook page "Lions Club of Philippi, WV."

  • Southern Baptist Church, located at 4 Blackwater Lane on Routh 250 North, will be hosting Vacation Bible School on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The VBS is titled “Magnified” and the topic will be discovering the bigness of God in the smallest of things! Everyone is welcome.

  • Commissioner Bob Richardson is extending invitation to anyone who would like to host Coffee with the Commissioner, an event held every first Tuesday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m.

The idea behind this event is to keep the public informed as to what is happening at the county level, answer questions, listen to suggestions, and address concerns and complaints. It is designed to make Barbour County a better place to live and raise a family.

Anyone can request to host the event and they can be held anywhere – from community centers to churches, pavilions, parks, businesses, inside or outside. If you would like to schedule an event, you can email brichardson@barbourcountywv.com.
