BMS Cross Country Wraps Up Season

The Belington Middle School cross country teams wrapped up a great season on Saturday, October 19, at the Washington Irving Last Call Invitational in Nutter Fort. Dakota Wolpert led the girls’ team with a strong 9th place finish out of 111 runners in a time of 15:43.

Jacob Burner just missed out on the win. He traded the lead throughout the race with Covenant Christian’s Tim Samuel but ended up crossing the finish line in second place in 12:43. Also placing in the top 30 were Zayden Price and Easton Ricottilli in 23rd and 24th. The boys team placed 7th out of 11 teams.

“I am extremely proud of our teams this season,” said Coach Katie Wolpert, “small but mighty, our kids trained all summer, raced hard, and showed great sportsmanship. This sport is a great way to learn the value of hard work and the power of being on a team and I am excited to see what these kids go on to achieve.”

Wolpert, Burner, and Price as well as 8th graders Rachel Wilson and Olivia Watson celebrated the final race of their middle school careers. They have been valuable leaders on the team this year, leading by example and encouraging their teammates and competitors to reach for their goals. All six were honored at a team dinner the night before the meet and are eager to take on new challenges in 9th grade next year.
