Battlers Knob Hosts Youth Wrestling Tournament

Three years ago, dedicated group of individuals in the county resurrected youth wrestling program, and have been achieving great results on the state level since. When Edge Sports, their home base, closed doors last year, they were left without place to practice, but soon after found a new home at Rex Pyles Arena at Battlers Knob.

The program almost doubled in size this year, and kids have been hard at practice three nights a week. This past Saturday, the Barbour County Youth Wrestling program hosted the first tournament in a long time, and it exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Around 300 young wrestlers from around the state came to Battlers Knob, and attendance exceeded 1000 people in the gym – largest event the gym has seen in a long time, and first one of its size for the new owners on campus.
