The Barbour County Republican Executive Committee convened for its final meeting of 2024 on November 19, celebrating a clean sweep for all Republican candidates in the recent general election across Barbour County and West Virginia. Chair Lisa Weese highlighted the success of the Trump gun raffle (thanks in no small part to the ticket sales efforts of Committee Member Bill Guthrie), announcing Kelly Vild of Barbour County as the winner. Weese also provided a comprehensive review of the year, showcasing the Committee's numerous successful fundraisers, community events, and political rallies. Several Committee Members assisted in these events including Secretary Renee Howdershelt, Vice Chair Pennie Roueche, and Members Sheila Tenney, Bill Guthrie, and Derick Spencer. The Chair acknowledged and thanked volunteers who were instrumental in ensuring the success of several Committee activities. These volunteers included Delegate Chris Phillips, John David, Beverly Pennington, Greg Murphy, Melody Murphy, and Janet Morgan.
"2024 was a monumental year for the Barbour County Republican Party. I set three objectives upon taking the Chair: to enhance our visibility in the community, to significantly boost our treasury, and to achieve Republican victories across the board. I am proud to say we accomplished all three with great success! I am excited to build on this momentum in 2025, so stay tuned for whats next from the Republican Party in Barbour County," stated Chair Lisa Weese.
The Committee will not hold a meeting in December due to the Christmas holiday, extending warm wishes for a joyful Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior and a prosperous New Year to all in Barbour County. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Battlers Knob, at which time the public is encouraged to attend and participate.
