Barbour County CEOS has three clubs and has racked up 9,500 hours in 2024. They have a State Vice President, Kim Stemple, and a Weston Area Representative, Linda Moats on our roster. They sent five members to the West Virginia CEOS Fall Conference at Jackson’s Mill that oversaw basket raffles, President’s reception, and merchandise sales.
They have also judged exhibits in Randolph, Tucker, and Preston County at their county fairs. WVCEOS Week was celebrated by a proclamation reading, a display contest, and a gift card raffle. Members love assisting the Barbour County WVU Extension with Kids Farmers Market Days in three schools. They also assisted at two locations for Kids Farmers Market registration in Philippi and Junior. Planting seeds, learning about bees and planting a tree in a school’s courtyard made Earth Day a fun time with approximately 400 students.

Members sent 49 Veterans Day Baskets to the VA Nursing Home in Clarksburg, WV. Baskets were filled with cards, health supplies and goodies. During the Barbour County Fair, they checked in exhibits and assisted with judging. At the fair on Third Graders’ Day and on Educational Day, they did a demonstration on butter making and apple butter tasting. There, they also served dinner at the 4H/FFA auction at the buyers’ dinner. A yearly event they have provides approximately 70 pumpkin pies to the free Community Holiday Dinner and 50 cans of yams to the Heart and Hand Christmas Food Baskets. At Christmas time, they sell homemade cookies at the Christmas Stroll and donate the proceeds to a needy family. In 2025, Barbour County CEOS will be 100 years old, and they also have one of the original clubs in existence, as the Tacy Club will also be 100 years old.
