Annual Art Stroll In Downtown Philippi Celebrates Local Art And History

Downtown Philippi was alive with color and music on Friday, April 26, as residents and visitors alike gathered for the annual Art Stroll. This year's event, themed "Remembering AB" in honor of the Alderson Broaddus University, drew a crowd to celebrate the rich history and vibrant creativity of the area.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of Melanie Cox, former president of the Alderson Broaddus Alumni Council, who brought with her a captivating nursing school history exhibit. Alongside numerous old photographs and memorabilia, Cox's exhibit provided a nostalgic journey through the annals of local healthcare education.

In addition to Cox's exhibit, over 40 other sites showcased a diverse array of artwork from both local artists and students.

Music filled the air at various locations throughout downtown, adding to the festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, on the Courthouse Square, members of the local girls' soccer team displayed their skills, delighting onlookers with their athleticism and teamwork.

The beautiful spring weather undoubtedly played a part in the event's success, as hundreds of people took to the streets to enjoy the art, music, and camaraderie. As they strolled from one exhibit to the next, attendees also had the opportunity to support local businesses.

For over a decade, the Art Stroll has been a beloved tradition in Philippi, eagerly anticipated by residents and visitors alike. Year after year, it continues to showcase the talent and creativity that abound in the area.
